Won't Let It Go

The birther movement has received rejuvenation from Presidential hopeful Donald Trump.  According to a recent poll, 51% of likely GOP voters believe that President Obama was born in another country and another 21% are not sure.

Why do you think this issue is still drawing traction, long after the Obama campaign released a birth certificate in 2008 indicating he was born in Hawaii?

There was a silly saying that we would repeat when we were children. We would accuse people of being "stuck on stupid". Perfect example!!! This issue has been researched and should have been put to bed a long time ago. It hasn't because some people need to hold on to a "personal" reason of why President Obama should not be our President. Playing the race card would make people look like bigots so they play the "American" card. I don't understand why anyone would believe that, at birth, this elaborate cover up took place. He wasn't born king! Or maybe his family looked into a crystal ball and saw that he was going to become President over 40 years later so decided to began this long road of deception. Believe that? I got a bridge to sell you...it leads to nowhere.

These people are single minded.Any thing to de-legitimize his presidency and to make him a one term president.Oh and by the way,HE'S BLACK.

The birthers are merely sheep following their shepherd DON who doubles as a snake oil salesman. He's knows this is bullshit. But we also know that he is a master of marketing.

They are going after this black man by any means necessary. The new assumption is that the certificate will prove that he is a Muslim.First, being born a Muslim is not a crime and secondly, how can we be held responsible for our parent's religious preferences? These same people forced him to leave his CHRISTIAN Church because of the comments of his pastor.Obama can't win a war with these people.

I have no idea why this still gets attention and even makes me wonder why Tonya chose this as the question of the week. I am a total right wing Constitutionalist and even I dismiss the birther movement as having no merit what so ever. There are so many other things going on in this country that a birth certificate is the least of my worries. The only reason this has been in the head lines at all is that Donald Trump put up his certificate,, big whooopty do!

@ Patrick. I usually don't agree with you, but for those of us that are loyal fans to this site and support what Mrs. Free is doing, we chime in with our viewpoint for discussion. Now concerning Mr. Trump and this birther thing, he is a weed that will soon dry up and go away.

Why is the "Housewives" and other Reality shows so popular???? People (some) will buy into such comments because of their own fear, socialization, etc. and those spouting such comments know this. Trump merely is attempting to make whatever noise or distraction people like those who believe the birther conspiracy will accept. The good news is that population is a fringe group or small.

The reich-wing nuts can't find anything else to complain about. Instead of focusing on job growth and the like they are being taught to attack and attack with lies so the masses won't find out that they don't have any new ideas or for that matter a plan to move this country forward.
Those old couch potato baggers need to be bagged.

He already podeirvd the official birth certificate. That was legal evidence of birth in Hawaii. Thousands of people use it to prove birth in the USA every year. The long-form birth certificate that he has just podeirvd is IN ADDITION to the official birth certificate, which is the one that he already podeirvd. And three Republican officials in Hawaii confirmed the fact on the official birth certificate. That was sufficient, more than sufficient. Obama has now podeirvd both the official and the original birth certificate. Obama was never a citizen of Indonesia, as a telephone call to the Indonesian Embassy in Washington will confirm. It will also confirm that Obama never had his name legally changed while in Indonesia, nor was he adopted. So, his name was and continues to be Obama.
