Losing Hope?
According to a recent poll, only 45% of voters approve of the President’s performance.
Do you think President Obama has been effective as a leader and will the midterm elections be a referendum on the President?

Considering the obstacles and roadblocks, he has been as effective as Congress has allowed. He hasn't even completed appointments due to republican wrangling.

The President is the victim of unrealistic expectations. Many felt"Change" would be immediate. This is a long haul and we have not even made it two years into this administration. He has been effective and it is now time to rally the troops.

I agree with the polls. The voters are sick and tired of the deficit spending and bailouts that have only helped corporate America. We were duped into believing in change and jobs. The midterms are and should be a referndum on this administration. We are tired of hearing about what was inherited from Bush. The chickens have come home to roost.

My answer is Yes, No, Yes and But...
Yes, this will be a referendum on the President. Voters will look at their wallets and then look at the person(s) sitting in the big chair at the time.
No, there is a general understanding that the country had a big problem on its hands in 2008. However, voters have lost their patience. Bills have to be paid. Therefore...
Yes, this will be a referendum on the President. There is probably one thing helping the President right now, and that is the Republicans currently do not inspire confidence among most Americans that they are the party to fix the economy: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/12/AR2010071205453.html
The President will look like a hero by this time next year if the economy turns around.
In the meantime, smart Democrats will begin to deliver messages about a more uncertain financial future if the other party takes over Congress. Smart Republicans will tell voters to look at their wallets...

I think the stagnant economy has put a bad taste in the mouths of many. This will be a referendum on Obama and the republicans may ick up a few seats but not the majority.

Numbers do lie.it depends on who is aking who and how.The democrats will maintain the majority. They are peaking too soon.

Yes it is a referendum. Republicans have made it so. They speak out while Democrats remain silent. Total change will not happen overnight but what has changed for the better is left unsaid!

The president needs to take control of the message if he is to be fully recognized for his successes.
