Make this Right

For over 60 days and counting, the BP oil spill crisis has been front and center with disturbing images of oil soaked animals and threatened pristine beachfronts.

But what hasn’t been as transparent is the outreach from BP to the families of the eleven killed in the explosion. Family members recently asked President Obama to “support efforts to update federal law limiting the amount of money the families can collect.”

Thanks to pressure from the Obama administration, BP has agreed to establish $20 billion in compensation for all whose lives and livelihoods have been affected by this disaster.

BP has pledged in ads that “We will get this done. We will make this right.”

Our elected officials must continue the pressure to ensure fair and equitable compensation to the families of those who lost their lives as we travel down the road to “make this right”
