Surprise,Surprise!
Last week’s primary elections in several states resulted in very interesting results. It was a big night for women in California, where two Republican women beat out their male counterparts in both the congressional and gubernatorial nominations. In the fall, Republican Carly Fiorina, Former Hewlett-Packard CEO, will run to unseat Democrat Barbara Boxer in the Senate while Meg Whitman, eBay CEO will challenge Democratic nominee Jerry Brown in California’s gubernatorial race.
A strange upset in the South Carolina U.S. Senate Democratic Primary has drawn a different type of attention leading to calls for a federal investigation. Alvin Greene, an unemployed “mystery man” believed to be a “plant” with no fundraising, campaign ads or website defeated Vic Rawl, a retired Lt. Colonel in the South Carolina National Guard, former judge and four term state lawmaker.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn expressed concern stating, "I believe there's a coordinated effort to circumvent state and federal laws and seriously subvert the electoral process.”
