Just the Facts, Please!

Weeks after Arizona’s mandate eliminating ethnic studies, Texas takes center stage with a new social studies and history curriculum that has sparked scrutiny and national debate due to its revision and just plan “distortion’ of the facts.

The new curriculum adopted by the conservative Texas Board of Education amends and rewrites hundreds of items including not only the civil rights movement, but the teaching of slavery as well.

We cannot allow this new wave of political revisionists to deprive our future leaders of the truth. History is history and no matter how you slice or dice it, the facts are still the facts, PERIOD!

Benjamin Jealous of the NAACP said it best, “The school board members are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.”

Texas is just trying to make a statement.Yes, it is the wrong statement-and ignorance that passes for education is just plain criminal in intent. Is that the way a state (any one of 50) wants itself to be remembered?Texas, you should know better!!!!!Ignorance is not a subject that should be taught anywhere on Earth!!!!

Biz has a point. It's just the Republicans turn. They will always seem to correct and balance out.

When did facts ever mean anything to politicians?
