A Suspect
Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman recently introduced a proposal to revoke the citizenship of any American suspected of supporting terrorist activity. Despite being short lived in the media, it’s a topic that should concern all Americans. The suspect will be assumed guilty and stripped of Miranda rights and tried in a military tribunal instead of civilian court. The push to revoke the citizenship of any American suspected of terrorist activity is certainly an open door for error and abuse.
Imagine, just being at the wrong place at the wrong time could make any American a suspect. Whatever happened to the presumption of innocence of all Americans until proven guilty?

We must do all we can to identify domestic terrorists, but stripping the rights of American suspects seem extreme unless they are participating in an organized attack against the country. This last lone wannabe NY bomber does not rise to the definition in my opinion.

Citizenship is not a right ,but a privilege. If you act against the country, you lose the right to benefits and the ability to utilize taxpayer dollars to pay for a defense. These people are at war with the US and everything that this nation stands for.

If they are going to pass this then they need to define exactly what a "terrorist activity" is. TA is what it is to us but the Government may have a totally different defintion.
