Don't Compromise
The world is ever changing and operates on a fast track traveling at the speed of light. With the help of advanced technology, access to information, goods and services is as convenient as the click of a button. 24-hour news outlets keep us up with the latest via our BlackBerry or iPhone while allowing us to follow the every move of any person of interest through the ever growing lists of online social networks.
Many things have and will continue to evolve – but our moral and ethical values should never change or be compromised. We continue to be bombarded with news reports of ethical lapses ranging from moral breaches of the clergy to fat cat bankers reveling in the losses of its consumers and investors.
Has our need to achieve and excel in this fast paced society replaced the need to be civil and respectful? While evolving technology continues to change our way of life, we need to make sure we don’t completely lose all respect for humanity.

For you to lambaste the very essence of what you do, ie: social networks, blogs etc. is contradictory and disingenuous.

Biz - if I correctly understand Tanya's post, why is it "contradictory and disingenuous" to suggest that users of social networks stay true to who they are as people? Social networks represent what you do, and not who you are.
Your comment sounds more like a personal attack than anything else...

I have a blackberry and you are correct,it helps me stay organized. But it drives me crazy at restaurants whenever some one with a bluetooth flashing just has to accept that call.Or when your dinner guests drop out of a conversation to return an email or text message. It ain't that damn important! Thanks Tanya for allowing me to vent.

Maybe a reason-people no longer have contact or concern for each other. Why be civil if it is a phone call?Who cares if I steal? It may not sound sane-really, have people just lost "touch?"When was the last time every one in your neighborhood gathered for a picnic?Tell me about how many people you even know on your street?Did you forget about the people who worked morning, noon and night just to make ends meet and yet: still found the time to ask how you were?
