Firestorm Ignited
The Governor of Arizona signed an immigration reform bill that has sparked much controversy and characterized by the President as being “misguided.”
Do you agree with the Governor’s decision? What do you think about the bill?

No way.Another opportunity to go back to the "old america"

This is a step backwards. The governor claims that there will be no racial profiling. How can that be?Firestorm is right!

Any brown person will be harrassed. You would think that this would be happening in the deep south.Guess they are too busy celebrating Confederate History.

This is not immigration reform. This has nothing to do with illegals. This is about securing white electoral votes.

How does this reform penalize the Non Hispanic employers? It doesn't!

You people have made this a racial issue as usual. The governor says that there will be no profiling. Shouldn't you wait and at least give the benefit of the doubt. You don't seem to have a problem giving Obama that courtesy

AMEN TC!

TC and Biz???? Are you willing to carry and present a national TD card on demand without cause? This is where we are headed.
11. Biz said...
Ben,I think you meant "ID" card.(Public School Education?)The answer is yes,if it will ensure that American jobs are protected.

This is a no brainer. The Obama administration has failed to come up with a plan,so the states are forced to act.

Tanya,I enjoy your jazz, but why are you rehashing this over and over. The other hosts seem to have moved on.Illegal aliens are a problem.Ben,you are jumping to unfounded conclusions!

Driving while Black, working while Brown and flying while Muslim. Do we see a pattern here?Racial and Religious profiling is wrong.

The republicans have already stated that they will work to block federal immigration reform.Could it be so that more states can follow Arizona's lead?

I am hispanic and applaud this law. If I get pulled over, I am asked for ID. What's the big deal? How is this any different. These people shouldn't be here and you are putting illegals over American citizens.
20. Mark said...
Humberto, are you serious? You don't mind being pulled over because of no other reason than being Hispanic?
21. Angel said...
I am betting that "Humberto" is a fake.I am hard pressed to find a Latino that embraces profiling of "LEGALS"

The law clearly prohibits "pulling someone over because they're hispanic". It requires "prior legal contact" DUI, speeding, etc. Does it prevent racial profiling? Probably not, but probably won't increase it either. And while we're on the subject of "racial profiling", consider this; it is a fact that, statistically speaking, most of the illegal aliens in this country come from Mexico. It is a fact, statistically speaking, that most people in Mexico have brown skin. So maybe there's a connection?(duh). On the other hand, statistically speaking, most serial murders are white, college educated, middle aged men. If the police were pursuing a serial murderer in my area, would I be offended if they asked me for identification because I fit the profile? Hell no!...and I would be a supersensitive, whining moron if I was offended (oh...white people can't be offended by race...I forgot about that).
Now, here's a important question...why do minority groups always make everything about race? It's is so tired and has completely lost whatever punch it ever had. Arizona's new law is about apprehending people who have entered the country illegally; lawbreakers that care nothing about our laws or even the rule of law. Go to Mexico and you'll be expected to produce papers on demand. And yes, I would gladly carry and produce identification when requested. I do now, it's called a driver's license, military ID card, etc. Always with me. Not a problem.

We have got to stand beside our Mexican brothers and sisters on this one! Its outrageous and disgusting. As African Americans we know what it feels like to be profiled, targeted and discriminated against. These people are not criminals. The truth is Arizona is their ancestral land. They were here before any of us. The police are looking for any reason to harras innocent families. They need our support now more than ever. Black and Brown has got to unite..We are stronger Together!!

This law is not about color. It is about people entering the country illegally, and then too many of them committing crimes. In the absence of a big fence or some method of stopping what are "invaders", not immigrants, what are the people of Arizona to do? There is no way to control their color; if they were white or yellow the problem would still be the same. It doesn't matter what color they are -- their crime and the problems they cause in that society and need to be stopped. In addition to crimes committed in AZ, there is the drain on taxpayer money for services intended for citizens and legal immigrants. Peole are strongly stating their view of the problems with this law, but don't have any better solutions. This problem, like several others in our country, is way out of control. Those who truly have another effective solution, let's hear it. And I hope it is not just allowing everyone in the world to enter and use (or trash) our country as they wish, use our taxpayer provided services, and vote in our elections. Even those who sneak in and don't commit other crimes, are still illegal immigrants who must be dealt with.

The dominant race is afraid of competition and they are willing to do whatever to keep themselves in power. Open the gates and let'em in; they do spend money ya know.

Agreement is not the issue. The issue is enforcement of the law.Illegals are causing an economic strain on our communities. The laws need to be enforced.Americans have to pay the price for services offered to each of these people.
