ID Please?

Discussions in Washington concerning immigration reform have sparked controversy on the proposal of a national worker ID card.

What do you think about a mandate that would require all American workers to have a biometric identification card

This is ridiculous. If employers perfom background checks, why must everyone be subject to Big Brother Government.

Another Bonehead Political Distraction.

How would this differ from the requirement of a SS card? Can't it be combined.

A mandate for hard working legal citizens bothers me. It has to be a better way.

OK…I do not understand the position the Federal Government is taking on immigration reform. If I recall, all US born citizen that are legally of age to work has to complete Form I-9 prior to employment. The same is for documented workers providing services for pay. Since this is the case, the Federal Government should know who is working in this country legally or un-lawfully. Now the question is….do they really think employers are going to hand over un-documented workers to the Fed’s for fear of exportation to a country they are trying to leave? I don’t think so! Many employers are benefiting from the cheap labor and reaping the benefit of revenue they are pocketing. If this country continues on the path they are on, the destination is going to be a course of destruction to this Nation.

I agree with Robert. This is a smokescreen to cover up a much larger problem. We need a strong American workforce with less regulation to deemphasize and minimize the need for illegal aliens.

Can I change the subject?Am I the only one ecstatic about Tiger Wood's return to the Master's?Sorry,I digress. The biometric ID card is a bad idea.

This is a great idea and it will work, help stop illegal immigration, people will not come here illegaly if they can't get jobs, it will also help those jobs got to legal citizens and immigrants paying taxes to help society in large. Despite the privacy concerns it will be better overall, I have always had a passport and never had my privacy invaded, those are just uneducated whiners using that excuse, go for it, Eric

18. Derrick said...

Even if I thought it might help.Where is the rest of the plan. This is only a bandaid

19. Laurie said...

I disagree with Eric.Passports are not mandated, only required for travel abroad.I may choose to get a passport to travel but am not mandated to have just in case I may take a trip

20. Rudy said...

I disapprove.

We need to do something. This may be the start of true reform.

22. Graham said...

At least its better than continuing to build fences.

23. Willie Price said...

Whats taking so LONG? Great Idea should require DNA results, would help with work place crimes...

24. Kay said...

I don't understand why so many are against this idea.We have to protect American jobs.

25. Tom said...

Hmmm can you say Achtung, your papers please!

26. Don said...

This is not needed if employers screen.THey will ignore these cards too if they need these illegal workers

27. Nikki said...

Just heard this. This unbelievable.Who knows what other info will be embedded in this card.

28. Ronald said...

I agree with Robert @ # 10. We are not going to solve that problem because you will just be getting the legal folks that are already registered. More focus should be put on regulating the employers who are hiring these illegal workers and put some heavy fines in place.

Land of the free and Home of the Braves, not the Home of the illegal immigrat. All nationalities that want to come to americans are suppose to go thru some type of training to become legal americans.

So, the question "What do you think about a mandate that would require all American workers to have a biometric identification card?" Why should we!!!!!

a biometric identification card might be good for other nationalities that were trying to get american status, but not for the true american born.

Last time i checked, i was born in an american hospital, not overseas in another country Hospital.

What is our Government trying to control NOW!!!

You all better check on the bible and see what the last days are going to be consisting of.
