Prison population
Questions are being raised on whether the census should include those that are incarcerated.
Should inmates be counted in the census? If counted, should the census register them under their prison address or their home community?

The prison population is largely brown and black. The only reason these people are now important is the dollars that will come to those RURAL communities. It is no coincidence that prisons are no longer located in metropolitan areas. They should be counted as part of the last known address so that resources can be in place in our communities to support their reentry and rehabilitation.

They should be counted. Some of them will be back in the community they live in and will only be counted in the home if the person in the home includes them. A true count will include those who are incarcerated.

Yes. The money does not need to go to the prison community. They have the benefit of state and federal funding and jobs as a benefit for housing inmates

There is no reason to give credit to the former communities. They have lost the right to benefits and therfore the community that they came from.

I agree wholehartedly with Justin.Yes,count them as a resident of the community that they are returning to.

The prison community deserves the money for allowing criminals in their backyard

This is simply a case of the haves and have nots.Building prisons instead of schools.Building criminals instead of communities. The communities need the allocation based funds.

I don't think they should be counted. Those rights are gone.

The communities that house the prisons deserve the additional funding if no no other reason assuming the risk associated.

For God's sake, how could we not count them? They are human and citizens of the US aren't they? If they live in this country they need to be counted no matter where their 'residence' happens to be. Are they not marginalized enough??

Come on people lets get a clue. As long as they are a human being and a citizen of the US and they aren't from outer space, than they should be counted. Regardless of where they come from and their status they should be counted.
This maybe a stupid Question, why should we have to worry about this.

COUNTED IN THEIR HOME COMMUNITY; MOMMA'S AND DADDY'S NEED TO LIST THEIR INCARCERATED SONS AND DAUGHTERS. THE HOME COMMUNITY NEEDS THE FUNDS MORE THAN EVER!

I feel they should be counted at their home address. If we don't include them in the count we will loose out greatly. So many people ESP black men and their families will be looked over and communities like mine that Are allready in need of funds and over looked will be the ones thats are hurt the most by not having it people represented.

The home address is the only fair option

I am an example. My kids and I await the return of their father who will not be counted because he is not in the household.

The place where they are currently living. THey are not moving from one locale to another. By all means count them, all of them.

Inmates should be counted and registered under their home community. Both violent and non-violent ex-offenders will reintegrate into society whether we embrace them or not. It would behoove us to include them in the census. In order to decrease the likelihood of recidivism, resources and services are definitely warranted to address the vast needs of this population. An idle mind is the devil's workshop.
