Nothing happens until ...

There are more than 300 million people in the United States represented by 100 U.S. Senators, 435 House Representatives and the President of the United States. Only approximately 1% of the population reportedly earns more than $500,000 per year representing the wealthiest segment of our population. Our electorate, many of whom fall within that elusive 1%, were elected to represent the best interest of all 300 million of us or at least the vast majority. With 15.4 million unemployed, 11.5 million underemployed and 3.9 million foreclosures - where’s the commitment?

After trillions of dollars were committed to the bailout of the financial community, lending and services to the 99% of us including many small and emerging businesses is slow to come and in many cases nonexistent. At the same time, Wall Street hasn’t skipped a beat with awarding millions in bonuses. Again, where is the commitment?

If hindsight is 20/20, much of the same is what we can expect from our political leaders, Democrats and Republicans alike. Their political rhetoric orchestrated in more long and drawn out congressional hearings, hashing and re-hashing the financial disaster and excessive bonuses won’t stimulate the economy or create jobs and Wall Street remains Wall Street. It is without question that we, the American people have had enough.

With little to no help from mainstream media, movements are taking shape. Efforts are being organized by hard working Main Street America to fight back against Big Bank greed and corruption. “Debtors Revolt” and “Move Your Money” are two of those initiatives.  Again, they won’t attract mainstream media attention, but there is power in numbers – especially when it’s 300 million strong.

Kudos to the 1% that are doing well, but it’s the 99% that are struggling to stay afloat with the least chance at the American dream – that’s skewed. Let’s commit to change by sending a message to Capitol Hill and Wall Street.

I move to formulate a fourth party called the “People’s Party”. Some of the things our elected officials come up are common sense issues, that can be resolved in days without have lengthy hearings. There is power in numbers which has been demonstrated in the Boycott Movement in the sixties and even in the Socialist Republic of Germany when East/West Berlin united as a people to move their country forward. Greed is a terrible thing and some people don’t quite get it. I don’t have reservations with people being wealthy but I do have concerns about people being wealthy and not know what to do with it. I admire the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for what they do for the needy but most of all two of their foundation guiding principals says it all 1) “To increase opportunity and equity for those most in need—requires great stewardship of the money we have available” 2) “Our belief that every life has equal value.” These two statements should be the core value for the 1% who is doing well.

I couldn't agree more with everyone here. This is exactly what we need to do - throw the bums out of Congress!

There is no excuse for Congress to be voting for legislation that the majority of Americans do not want. They were put into office to represent us - not their own interests.

The problem is our Government is out of control. It's too big to manage itself, and too complicated for the average American to follow properly and call them on their actions.

Government needs to trim itself down, cease the creation of these 2000+ page bills (which by the way most of the Senators and Representatives who vote on these bills DO NOT read before voting on them!), stop the earmarks, and start doing their job correctly.

Remember, they are OUR employees. We "hired" them, and we can fire them. We just need to stand up and take control back.

What we need in Congress are typical Americans that can pass common sense judgments for the average working American.

Remember, both sides of the isle took money, and pay day is here! When they talk about the economy, they are talking about the economy of the United States of America, world power, with a world government; just like France, China and Japan. Each government is actually a corporation, it has shareholders, managers and a labor force (you and me). If you don't get it by now, it's every man or woman for themselves. The ship is still sinking. They threw us a life boat with a slow leak in it. They are not looking out for your best interest. The American Dream is just that--a dream--wake up! Yes we need honest elected people, but currently they are few and far between, so relying on any savior has run its course and it is time for the people to take charge and lead there own lives. The only way this beast continues to devour is because "the people" continue to feed it. You feed it by spending money you don't have. You feed it by paying for the propaganda machine to come right in your house(cable). I know people whose cable bill is over $150 mo. And these same people tell me they can't afford a health insurance policy. You feed it by buying all this gadgetry passed off as technology. You feed it by playing this holiday game year in and year out under the guise of religion. Stop the madness! One must learn to govern him/her-self first so when true governance appears, you will recognize it. The economy of your household comes first. Banks are still failing, why is your money still in a bank? You went to sleep one night and the money in your retirement account was there, you woke up the next day and the morning personality on the cable station told you that you lost over 65% of the value of your portfolio--it's gone! Well, where did it go and who has it? As long as your money is in the hands of someone else, they control what happens to it. As long as your children are in a educational system that you know doesn't have their best interest in mind, they are supposed to fail, especially when you are not at home making sure the homework is getting done. Pick up a book and learn how to manage your own money. Pick up a book and learn how to do-it-yourself, especially if you don't have the money to pay for it. Pick up a book and learn that the $400 purse was not a good buy because now you don't have $40 dollars to put in it. In that same book, learn that if he doesn't like you because your hair is too short, he probably won't like you when you tie-on $1000 worth of hair and your light bill is not paid. How about picking up the DPSS consequences on not paying your child support as you stroll off into the sunset with that fine young thing. Participate in these grass-root organizations that are quietly showing you how to make change because "the revolution will not be televised."

I note that there is no difference between democrats and republicans. They both spend money that doesn't exist. Imagine if you or I were to pull a stunt like that. Welcome to the tea party. We will take our country back
