Report Card
During an interview, President Obama gave himself “a good solid B- plus” for his first year in office.
Do you agree? How would you grade the President?

I gave him an "A" for effort. He has had a lot of forces against him
3. Jim said...
Considering the health care reform moved forward last night,a Bt is about right
4. kevin johnson said...
I give him a C, but I think it will go up, the first of the year, because employment opportunities will slowly start developing, and hopefully , that will help the economy. He gets an A, for his efforts, because you can clearly see, opposed to the last administration, that he has the countries, best interest, at heart!
5. Jackson said...
I can't grade him.I am dissapointed that he has refused to fight for anything!
7. Kendall said...
Part of the problem in grading him is that there is so much is on his plate. While we are leaving Iraq as promised ,we are kneedeep in Afghanistan. While we averted a financial crisis, credit is slow to move.Healthcare is going to happen, but only a shell of what was promised. We have gotten some of everything promised,so a grade of B- is about right.

let's see....
1. hundreds of billions spent bailing out companies the government should not be involved with - which will increase our taxes when we do not get that money back - solid F
(this goes for Bush doing the same thing BTW!)
2. pushing - and I mean pushing (behind closed doors, no bi-partisan effort here)- through a health care bill that all major polls show we Americans do not want - this will also increase our taxes AND not provide anywhere near the quality of health care we are use to today - again a solid F.

I am going to have to agree with Howie. My life has not improved one iota and my taxes are going to increase.
10. Tye said...
I give him a solid C! he is working very hard and i have no doubts that he will get a better grade after this healthcare bill passes....

I grade Obama welcome back Carter except he makes Carter look like he knew what he was doing. I heard he inherited somthing, or more like he got himself elected into it. Lets hope he's a one term president because only god is going to save america. Obama is full of Obama. I know how much my gas, electric and water bills were last month. How much did the White House cost you and me last month? Don't do 70 car convoys or jumb in the 747 because I can. Don't even claim to be a leader because I'm a regular guy and know it. One good thing about Obama at least he's not a Maverick.

Alright Here I Go Again: You Know I’m going to give him a “A+". He came into an administration that was torn up from the floor up. Give him a chance to show his stuff. He can't change a country over night...You guys with the bad grades were probably first in line with the Regan Administration. This man has a team of top notch professionals in place to ensure each person’s job is done. Now what we need to do as a country is start supporting our president because the countries we are at war with are planning to take over. We could one day be in their world. Are you prepared to be governed by another country? We are in big debt to these other countries? I say STOP purchasing CHINA made products!!! American made goods ONLY and begin to love and respect your country & your President!!!

I voted for him and unfortunately I agree with. John D+

How do you measure a man success? It’s simple; you measure him by his heart. It’s easy to criticize a person when we feel we aren’t getting what we want individually but the big picture is what do we want collectively? We ask the questions WWJD and hold up of score card of believers but what do we really have to offer humanity? We need to hold these Senators accountable for what they are doing also.
This morning on the Today Show… Senator Lindsey Graham stated, “Health Care Reform” controlled by a Democratic Congress is making a mockery of society but turned around and stated this reform will affect the 30% of African American who suffer from poverty in his State of South Carolina. My questions to Mr. Graham and all these so call Conservative Christians …what are you doing to help your fellow man that suffer from these conditions? Do you reject the vote to keep him in this condition or do you offer some type of hope towards the problem?
I hold no animosity towards President Obama and I personally feel he is doing a wonderful job as Commander In Chief. I pray well being for him and his family and hopefully the country will rally around him during these difficult times.

First Tanya, may I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for what you do.This forum and your choice of topics allow us to express rather than always having so called politicos brainwash us.Instead of grading the President ,I think we should grade our communities. While it has only been a year,I see progress.I feel relief.Even when I disagree with Mr. Obama,I know that he is sticking to the plan.Detours are necessary in politics and a half full glass is better than an empty one.I say we all doing better than average so a B+ is okay with me.

I don't know if you remember me,but even though I have not posted in a while,I would like to give you an A for what you do.I am amazed at how much you have done this year. You warned about new years resolutions last year and you have done yo thaang to grow this.I heard you in DC .WOW Keep it going.I can say that I knew you when.LOL Merry Christmas

Only the haters of our beloved President would give him a failing grade. They are the viewers of fox(fake)news stations that slam the POTUS all the time. I agree with our leader to give himself a thumbs up for steering america in the right direction. I shudder to think what a palin/mccain administration would have wrought. Thank you God for the life and future legacy of our president.

How can anyone say that things aren't getting better. Are banks still failing? NO Are we in a depression? NO Wake up people. I give him an A
23. howie said...
everyone forgets that WE bailed out the banks. WE footed the economic stimulus package. Obama/Congress did NOTHING but spend more of our money.
The banks/financial institutions that were in trouble should have been allowed to fail. This is what the "survival of the fittest" means in our capitalistic society. Yes, this would have caused a short-term upheaval in our economy, but smaller financial companies and new companies would have stepped up to take over and resolve this issue. And the financial markets would be stronger in the end as a result. The term "too big to fail" is absolutely false.
Remember, these institutions got into trouble by making alot of VERY RISKY decisions to loan money to people who could not afford it. That is unsound fiscal responsibility. Short term earnings does not translate into long term prosperity when greed plays into the mix.
But instead of facing the consequences, they were rewarded with a saving grace.
Look at this on a smaller scale: If my neighbor makes bad financial decisions (running up his credit cards, extending his credit beyond his means, buying luxury items when he should be worried about the basics), why should I or the other neighbors on my block be responsible for bailing him out? That is what is happening here, but on a much larger scale. WE ARE THE ONES BAILING OUT THESE COMPANIES.
And what do we have to show for it? Nothing but higher taxes coming down the pike. We are not going to a profit making venture here.
Just for the record, I am an independent. I find fault in both parties, as I think they are way out of control. There are no regulations of any sort on Congress preventing them from making unwise financial decisions.
One of Obama's biggest points during his campaign was to take away earmarks from Congress. Yet a senator recently got $300 million for her state by agreeing to back the health care reform bill. She is not supporting this bill - she is being paid off to cast a vote for this bill. This is a big difference.
So not only am I being stuck with the new costs associated with this bill (and believe me, we will see these costs filter down to us in new taxes on anything Congress can get their hands on to tax), but I am also stuck with supporting the financial responsibilities of this extra $300 million dollars that does not benefit 90% of America.
Congress should be forced to maintain a balanced budget, to run in the black so the national debt can be paid off in 30 years, and their pay should be based on their performance from a financial standpoint. they should only be allowed to get raises if the country is operating in the black. Their pay should be cut if we run in the red.
I am a small business owner and I cannot run my business in the red on other peoples money and get away with it. Neither should Congress.

Howie, what about the billions spent on that ill conceived war that WE paid for in Iraq?

I am going to give him an A-. I would give him an A+ but it seems that he will not speak out against those trying their best to derail his efforts. He needs to start calling out those like Graham, Limbaugh, McCain and others.

RobertB, you go boy. This is so true most people are so quick to past judgement and this is true volunteer for a local church in my area just to give back in my community. It is not much however I try. The man has aged so much since he has been in office. Could you imagine having such a responsbility when everything was in such dis-array. He is doing well I think. Alot of people need help check this out there was a dental student at Howard University that was arrested for terrorist activities, we have the balloon stunters, the white house crashers and then Tiger the operative words should be” commitment to change” and none is allowing him to change anything they are just pointing fingers. However none of the fingers are going backwards to the past administrations just forward. Go Figure….
I think that the citizens of America make better fools out of themselves than the President. As for the housing problem, this is why they give you a contract you know you should have read the fine print and not bit off more than you can chew, then you cry for help. Capitalist is at it's worst right now and the rich are the non-american citizens that really don't want to claim citizenship cause after they are done with their education and made the money they go back to their countries with all of the knowledge on how to tear our country apart. Yet the poor is here never having a chance to utilize the funds because they are used by them. Give the man a break.
And Cyn, isn't Tanya doing the damn thing. You Go Girl

I haven't given any of the turnips including anyone in tat big white house for the past 47 years a grade above the word "disgrace."
The National Debt:
1910 2.6 billions NO Income tax
1920 25.9
1930 16.2
1940 43.0
1950 257.4
1960 290.2
1970 389.2
1980 930.2
1990 3,233.3(trillion)
2000 5,674.2
2005 7,932.7
2006 8,506.9
2007 9,007.6
2008 10,024.7
AND 2009.......YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE! i think 13.2 trillion before the end of the year........what's yours?
Only one 10 year period tat the debt has gone down in the past 100 years...1920-1930.
America is $57 TRILLION IN DEBT and tis is not what the few fat farmers had in mind back in 1776 when with the penmanship of poets wrote the American dream.
And with a $100 Trillion shortfall in the Social Security and Medicare funds jus what are the children of tomorrow gonna do to put food on their table and have Uncle Sam take 75% of their income to pay for all the mistakes tat the turnips in D. C. have done in the past 100 years screwing each and every American and at the same time saying it's best for the taxpayers.

Ben J: I mentioned that the economy would take a hit if these institutions failed. But keep in mind, these institutions failed do to their
1. greed on short-term risky investments
2. american auto union workers demanding more pay than they are worth and still not providing the better quality product
In our society, if these companies failed so be it. The demand for the products would not diminish, therefore someone would have to step up to fill that void. So yes, a short term employment issue would be realized; but when the new businesses that are created/upsize/etc to take care of the never-ending demand we spoiled American citizens are used to, those same people would be re-employed under a much stronger economy.
