What's Your Take?

A sixty year old black man working at Home Depot in Albany NY was fired after being subjected to a customer’s racist rant.  The ten year employee reportedly making less than $13 an hour, told a customer in the store with an unleashed dog, that it is preferred that he kept his dog on a leash while in the store.  The customer responded by throwing the F-bomb and other expletives and said “If Trump wasn’t president, you wouldn’t even have a job, you’re from the ghetto, and what do you know? “ The employee had endured enough and responded “You’re lucky I’m at work, because if I wasn’t you wouldn’t be talking to me like this”. Days later the employee was fired but has since been offered his job back.

What’s your take? How would you have handled the situation? Should the employee accept Home Depot’s offer to reinstate him?

I probably would not have handled it so well.I would take the job back (with a raise)

Part service job is to deal with difficult customers. This is not worthy of this much attention
