Enhanced Interrogation or Torture?

The report released by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence discloses new details about the C.I.A.’s torture practices. The effectiveness of enhanced interrogation techniques including waterboarding has been called into question The CIA even reportedly described rectal rehydration a "well acknowledged medical technique.” The report states that the C.I.A. never produced an accurate count or list of those it had detained or subjected to brutal interrogation techniques and at least 26 detainees were wrongfully held and did not meet the government’s standard for detention.

The timing of the release of the report has been criticized by conservatives. Even though most of these techniques have since been outlawed, the debate over the necessity of these techniques at that time to ensure homeland security continues.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney said of the methods “I'd do it again in a minute,” "It worked, it absolutely worked."

What’s Your Take? Enhanced Interrogation or Torture? Do you agree with Dick Cheney that " Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" were effective and necessary for national security?

Let's not be so holier than thou. War is hell and terrorism is deep hell. We had to do whatever we had to do after 9/11.Yes it was justified.

Everything is political. Is what they did any worse than innocents killed by drones? Casualties of war are unavoidable. Don't think for a moment that any President would have done the same thing after a terror attack.

Well, if it isn't the Drone President and Senate calling another Drone President and Senate torturers...

And yes, this is torture...

Aside from stunts like anal feeding, rectal hydration, and a moderate increase in the number of people actually detained, there's nothing new in the report. In addition, the report confirms that torture didn't yield any useful intelligence.

The Party of no Guts' release the report is just a game. A few of them were fully aware of what the CIA was up to for years. Wouldn't the most logical next step be the prosecution of responsible members of the CIA, Senate, and Executive Branch...?

It won't happen. Therefore, this is a game...
