What's Your Take?

A ten year old Pennsylvania boy is being held in the Wayne County Correctional Facility and charged as an adult with criminal homicide, after admitting that he killed a ninety year old woman. Tristen Kurilla told police he was angry at the woman because she had yelled at him when he entered her room. He said he wanted to ask her a question. The boy admitted to grabbing a wooden cane, holding it against 90-year-old Helen Novak's throat for several seconds and punching her in the throat and stomach, according to the police affidavit. Kurilla will reportedly remain in adult prison after his attorney Bernard Brown removed his bail plea due to his parents not being ready to take him into their custody,

What’s Your Take? Do you agree with the decision to hold this child in an adult correctional facility and to face trial as an adult?

He should be in a juvenile psychiatric facility, but should not be allowed home.

The parents should be locked up.Why was this child not in some type of treatment?

In a word,NO!

This a very sad case,If the parents want him to stay in an adult jail then they must know something

He needs to be right where he is.The kid has some serious issues

6. Trudy said...

I think the parents need to be charged with neglect. This kid admittedly had issues

This is an example of why we need access to health care with mental health services.ObamaCare may have its flaws but is the answer to the millions of people who cannot afford health care. This child will probably spend the rest of his life in prison. How does that help anyone? The Republicans call for a repeal and the people that need it the most suffer.

Serial killer in the making.Does not need to be with adults but shouldn't be released to parents either.

How could they accept his confession? Would he even understand the Miranda statement?

I believe he needs some mental help and putting him a jail with adults is not the way to help him. Im sure his parent know he needs help and they should have gotten it for him. Why do we feel the answer to a child having problems as serious as this means they need to be locked up with adults. Come on, that is only going to make things worst in the long run.
