What's Next for Adrian Petersen and the NFL?

Minnesota Viking running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted and surrendered to Texas police on a charge of injury to a child. Peterson allegedly spanked his son with a switch resulting in injuries all over the boy’s body. Peterson will likely make a court appearance in the next several weeks, but it could be several months before the case would go to trial. Peterson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, issued a statement Friday saying his client's conduct "involves using a switch to spank his son." Hardin went on to say “Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son. He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas”

What’s Your Take? Should Adrian Peterson be allowed to play or should he be suspended until a determination is made in a court of law?

The NFL needs some consistency when it comes to discipline. He spanked his kid and went overboard. Let him get some counseling and parenting classes. You have woman beaters, druggies and everything else on the field every week.

$1500 bond and released. Does not sound that damn serious to me.

This is much bigger than Adrian. We really need to stop beating our kids in the name of discipline. I know that many of us received spankings and even spanked our kids, but we wonder why violence is so prevalent today. Slave Masters beat us, but most of our ancestors would not allow themselves to be beat into submission. They took it and found a way to get by.We are doing the same thing today. We are better educated and have more tools and techniques at our disposal. We beat our boys and they beat their women and their kids.We don't want our police beating us, but we do it to ourselves. It is part of the vicious cycle that is holding us back. Look at the videos on World Star and see what beatings have done. We now beat each other and videotape for the world to see. Stop saying,I was beat and I am ok. If honest you probably know that you aren't.

He should be suspended. These were serious injuries inflicted upon a vulnerable child.

He meant no harm, just misguided. Who beats a child over a video game? That is not discipline. He needs to get help and then come back to football. He said that is how he was raised and obviously it has affected him negatively.

He shouldn't play.I agree with Nancy and LTL,violence breeds violence. We have to stop beating our kids with tree branches and boards or whatever. We are creating a other generation of people that don't respect life.Ray Rice disciplined his wife for spitting on him.Get the picture?

It's over this year.He admitted going too far in tweets.

He beat the hell out of that kid.The NFl will not have another black eye right now.

We beat our children, we beat our boys and girls trying to join our frats and sororities, including the Masons and we wonder why our kids are violent? We teach it and approve it.Its a Black thing and we should not be proud of it.

Adrian tells the truth.Whipping is a learned behavior. We learned it from our enslavers and now we do the work of the slave masters.Remember the Samuel L Jackson character in Django?

I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but he admitted that he is sorry for injuries.Hard to justify reinstatement especially in light of the Ray Rice case.

I think he has played his last game. The NFL is going to make an example of him.

Why the hell is Ray McDonald playing. The girl had visible injuries.

Peterson allegedly texted the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting his thigh. . . . Got him in nuts once I noticed.
Why did he feel bad if he did nothing wrong?

Beating our black children furthers the legacy of slavery

The real Black on Black Crime is on college campuses where “old-school” brothers or sorors who crossed tell wives’ tales about what they did “on line” to folks who crossed in later. And those wives’ tales are then enhanced up the ladder until the pledging stories become legend to those black Greeks on campus today. And these current black Greeks will use those stories to convince some young sophomore that the only way they’ll get respect is by pledging underground. Hundreds will do it, hoping that the “pledging” they’re doing will give them the respect they crave.

The Vikings lost 30-7 to the Patriots without Petersen Sunday and now the Vikings believe he should have due process. That's a laugh and a shame.I wonder how Goodell would respond if there was a video of him beating the hell out of the child and what about the other child he admitted beating the hell out of.This ain't spanking. This guy needs help should not be encouraged to play football and go on as though everything is peachy-keen.

If Peterson weren't a former league MVP, would the Vikings have put him back on the field?
