What's Your Take?

Hundreds of infants and toddlers as young as 2 years old have been allegedly apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol while crossing the border illegally without a parent or guardian in the past year according to recent reports. The report states that roughly 52,000 unaccompanied minors have been apprehended since October 2013.  “Apprehending infants and children can be difficult for Border Patrol agents; our facilities are not designed with people that young in mind,” said Shawn Moran, a spokesperson for the National Border Patrol Council. House Republicans rejected a Senate-passed comprehensive immigration reform package last year that would have provided a path to citizenship for an estimated 8 million of the more than 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country.

What’s your take? Should these unaccompanied infants and toddlers receive a path to citizenship? Should President Obama use his executive powers to push through a comprehensive immigration reform package?

The children should not have a free pass. The parents are using this as a tool to break the system

Obama should unilaterally, the republicans are not going to support him in any way for the next two years

always good food for thought.Immigrant families SHOULD have a pathway to citizenship and yes the President should make it happen.I don't think Congress will have the guts to put anything in place. If Obama does it,he can expect opposition for both sides during this election cycle.A bigger question is why the Black media (with the exception of you) is not supporting reform. Why can't we as a people feel anybody else's struggle besides our own? Hmmmm. Sounds like a show topic lol

I agree, that's why we see all of these Black people wearing Washington Football Jerseys. Let' wait until someone claiming free speech will name a team insulting us

Yes,they should have a path to citizenship. And I agree with Karyn that it is essential that Black people are willing to support other people of color. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are too absorbed. I know you have talked about the Washington Bigots ,but please encourage your listeners to demand change especially those of you in Richmond where the training facilities are.

I believe we should have reform but the security of the border has to be addressed first.

There should be a path to citizenship and the President should take the ball now.I also want to weigh in on the side conversation. The problem is not only do Blacks (for the most part),not support causes of other oppressed people ,we don't support our own
Why???

No these kids should be returned but the families should be provided with a path to citizenship

Why should I worry about anyone else's problems.Life is hard enough just being Black in America.

If the President uses his executive power,it can be struck down by the next President.Congress needs to do this

I agree with Robert. If Obama uses his executive power ,the focus will shift from the do nothing congress to what will be perceived as an over reaching Obama administration. And The Democrats lose in 2016, Not a good idea.
