In an effort to reduce the number of smokers, the states of Colorado and Utah are considering raising the minimum age to smoke tobacco to 21 years old. The purchasing age in the United States is 18 for 46 of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Reportedly, lawmakers in both states voted favorably on proposals to treat tobacco like alcohol and take it away from 18- to 20-year-olds, a move inspired by new research on how many smokers start the habit as teenagers.
What’s Your Take? Should the smoking age be raised to 21 or should any legal adult be allowed to buy cigarettes?

The interesting point is that I believe it is legal to smoke at any age, but it is illegal to purchase.

Old enough to go to war at 18? Should be able to make the decision whether to smoke
