Should Food Stamp recipients be prohibited from buying soda and candy?

Two-thirds of Americans say they are stressed about the future of our nation in a recent report and protests continue across the country against what the President has labeled as his “fine tuned machine”. Speaking of protests, Pastor Donnie McClurkin is reported to say that Christians should not get caught up protesting because it gives a false sense of security. What’s Your Take? What should be the role of the faith community be in affecting social and political change?

There were a series of setbacks for the 45th President last week. Protests continue around the country. His Travel Ban was struck down in court amid reports that National Security advisor Mike Flynn did in fact talk to the Russians about sanctions prior to inauguration. And that’s just the beginning! White House Counsel Kellyanne Conway was herself reportedly counseled for using the  White House to promote Ivanka Trumps clothing line after the President  attacked Nordstrom  by tweet  for treating his daughter so unfairly by dropping her clothing line. And while we were all distracted by this clown side show, North Korea and Russia were busy threatening the world by firing ballistic missiles and the release of a report revealing that  African-Americans fatally shot by police were twice as likely as whites to be unarmed.

What's Your Take?

It seems as though many in America are experiencing a sense of buyer’s remorse after the 2016 election. Protests continue across the country and  worldwide  to express dissatisfaction with this President’s  campaign rhetoric, his electoral win, his inauguration and subsequent presidential actions.

What’s Your Take? Did we need the Trump election to wake us up from our complacency?

The 45th President of the United States signed an executive order to reduce regulations on the financial industry. Speaking of money, the next time the collection plate is passed during morning worship it might be funding his re-run for president. We have a new Supreme Court nominee. Who is he? The first Dominican-American elected to Congress, who identifies as a Latino of African descent wants to join the CBC but his Blackness seems to be in question.

Should pastors be allowed to make political endorsements from the pulpit?

The next time the collection plate is passed during morning worship, it might be used for political means. The President vows to “totally destroy” a law that prohibits churches from endorsing or opposing political candidates at the risk of losing their tax-exempt status. There are those in the conservative Christian community that feel that “Pastors should be held accountable to God alone for what they say behind the pulpit, not the I.R.S.,” while others think allowing churches the freedom to endorse or oppose a political candidate would divide the congregation.

What’s your take? Should pastors be allowed to make political endorsements from the pulpit?
