The election is just a few days away. The countless negative ads, less than truthful debates and continuous mudslinging from campaign surrogates have made distinguishing fact from fiction difficult for many Americans. Surveys reveal that a significant number of voters know little about politics and those with strong party affiliations are more likely to retain inaccurate information if it reinforces their views. It seems as though we have been programmed to vote AGAINST candidates rather than voting FOR a candidate.

Do you know who and what will be on your ballot this year? How informed do you consider yourself on the candidates' vision for America?

  •   President Obama’s less than stellar debate appearance last week has been the buzz of the political pundits the past few days. The spin doctors have offered a litany of excuses; the latest excuse blamed his lackluster performance on the altitude. Mitt Romney has been hailed the victor despite the fact that the fact checkers reveal that a lot of what he espoused was untrue. He seemed to contradict most of what he had built his “conservative” platform around. Many have hailed his shift back to the middle as a brilliant campaign strategy.
  •    A recent poll indicates that roughly 6 percent of the electorate is still undecided. Among poll respondents who answered 10 on a 1-to-10 scale of their intention to vote, the undecided group was more likely to chose "none," "other," "don't know" or "refuse to answer" on a broad range of questions about the presidential candidates and national political issues.
  •    Recent numbers from the Commerce Department and the US Census Bureau reveal the number of African American-owned firms in the United States

Another Reality Check

President Obama’s less than stellar debate appearance last week has been the buzz of the political pundits the past few days. The spin doctors have offered a litany of excuses; the latest excuse blamed his lackluster performance on the altitude. What does the President need to do to rebuild the momentum lost?

Mitt Romney has been hailed the victor despite the fact that the fact checkers reveal that a lot of what he espoused was untrue. He seemed to contradict most of what he had built his “conservative” platform around. Many have hailed his shift back to the middle as a brilliant campaign strategy.

Who is the real Mitt Romney? The self described conservative from the Republican Primaries or the moderate New England Governor known for working with Democrats and RomneyCare?

What’s your take? This week's topics include:

  • A preview of tonight's first Presidential Debate of this campaign season.
  • The mix of religion and politics is nothing new but seems to have taken a more prominent role in this year’s presidential campaign. The curiosity surrounding Mitt Romney’s Mormonism and the persistent questioning of whether President Obama is really a Christian seems to continue to be a major sideshow distraction. President Obama has even been labeled the anti-Christ by a national televangelist. Pastors around the country have reportedly been weighing in from the pulpit urging congregants to either vote for or against a candidate and in some instances advising them to stay home on Election Day.
